Glenda Kay Hufford

Glenda “Kay” Hufford, 70, of Holton, KS passed away May 5, 2012 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Kay was born May 6, 1941 in Holton, KS the daughter of Clarence and Hazel (Sweet) Cashman. She attended Holton schools.

Kay was married to Jerry Hufford on July 23, 1957 in Valley Falls, KS. Jerry passed away in September 1999.

Kay retired in February 2007 from Denison State Bank of Holton where she was a teller for 17 years. Earlier she worked 21 years for Ogilvie Drug in Holton and also worked at the Holton Hospital and Hallmark Cards in Lawrence, KS. She was currently working at Mercer Funeral Home and had been there for 3 years.

Kay was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Alpha Circle, Tourist Club and United Methodist Women where she served as president. She was past member of Pilot Club and F.O. E. Auxiliary.

Survivors include 2 sons, Doug Hufford of Lake In The Hills, IL and Mark Hufford and his wife, Jo, of Circleville, KS and 2 grandchildren, Kyli Hufford of North Kansas City, MO and 2nd Lt. Britton Hufford of USAF stationed at Vance AF Base in Enid, OK.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald Cashman and Lt. Col. Gerald (Jerry) Cashman in September 1972 as the result of a military aircraft training accident.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
